Academy Monmartre: an attempt of promotion for ART and Artists

Academy Monmartre : an attempt of promotion for ART and  Artists 


Today, we (Academy of Fine Arts) have launched a Monmartre programme. It is a weekly programme round the year. Every Saturday from 2pm to 6pm, any artist can come and join the art camp, about 30 to 40 artists can work together, To promote art and artists, Academy of Fine Arts has arranged this weekly art camp and the space free of cost. Artists will bring their paper and canvases being armed with their colour and brushes, from 2 pm they will start their work and sell it here within the stipulated price Rs. 1500/. the art lover also can buy any artists' work piece within the same price -- Rs. 1500/. This is done just to promote art to middle class and lower middle class people , so, that they can buy a art piece and hang it in their drawing room.The space is infront of  Academy of Fine Arts, the south lawn.
 Eminent painter Prakash Karmakar inaugurated the event, The president Jahar Dasgupta and secretary Bulbul Roy have mentioned about the programme clearly in their speeches which is narrated here, Eminent Art critic sandip Sarkar, also delivered his speech and suggested a new Indian name for this programme instead of Academy Monmartre. Film and documentary maker Sandip Roy also was present in the event , he had made a documentary on the life and works of painter Jahar Dasgupta, which was screened in the conference hall of Academy.
